Ajay Krish Interview

Vikram Singh Chadha

From being the man on the move in New York to settling down for television and now, setting his sights firmly on Bollywood, Ajay Krish has come along way indeed. At a time when his shows, Ardhangini and Mamta are over and the negotiations with Balaji and 9X are on, Ajay Krish is a happy man. "Television is a lovely medium. It helps you reach the masses. Both my shows were wonderful," says Ajay who is all geared for Bollywood as welll. " Moving on" is what is expected of me now!" philosophises the young man. Admist a busy schedule, we get him to answer a few questions, and he obliges, thereby...

How do you feel with Ardhangini is going off air?
I can't tell how bad I am feeling. Not because it's going off air, but because such a good concept could not be executed and so going off air.

So did you ever expect this to happen?
I myself am a very creative person and honestly somewhere in December or January, I felt that we have missed the boat. There were many changes made which I felt were not appreciated by me as well as the viewers. I sensed that things wre going astray then, and everyone knows that we can't fool the audience.

Who is that one friend you made on the sets of Ardhangini with whom you are going to be in touch forever?
I couldn't one person as the whole unit has been like a family. I am pretty sure that I will be in touch with everyone.

Any other show you are working on?
I have been approached by Balaji Telefims and 9X. Right now talks are on and I am considering few projects.

Do you plan to take up movies in the near future?
Here again, I have been approched with couple of film producers. If everything goes well, hopefully end of this year, I will start shooting.Till then, I can't disclose anything regarding it, as it's yet in the initial stages.

Ardhangini was one different serial of its own kind, so what according to you went wrong?
I would say that the execution was not exactly the way we had conceptualized. Even the storyline wasn't up to the mark.

Will you miss coming to shoot everyday?
For the past three years, I have been working non stop. So believe me, I am definitely going to miss the daily shoots.

You have done two serious roles as Krish in Mamta and Priyam in Ardhangini don't you want to experiment other generes too?
Of course, I want to experiment with other geners too. Being an actor and a creative person, I am definitely looking for something, ' hatke'. But if you ask me, I would say that I want to play a negative character.

It was said that Ardhangini was a tele Devdas and so your role was compared to the Badshah Shahrukh Khan with the kind of hard work you were putting into your character. Tell us honestly, had this ever gone to your head?
Firstly, I am nowhere in this industry when compared to SRK. He is the superstatar. According to me, the moment this serial was compared to Devdas, right there I felt its downfall started. I always said that it's not wise to compare the serial to Devdas or any film for the matter of fact, because it will be like fooling the audience.

Which is that one ' to-die-for' role in television?
I would like to do a gangster's role. I have done family dramas for long time. So that will be a good change.

You are said to be Zee's blue-eyed boy...
I am nobody's blue-eyed boy. If I love a role, I take it up. It is sheer coincidence that both the shows were on the same channel. I am open to anything creative.

Tell us little bit about your personal life?
For the past three years, my personal life has been revolving around sets only. But my two dogs are my lifeline. For them, I go home everyday. Of course my dada is there.

Monty Sharma Music Gets Dharam Paji Emotional

Vikram Singh Chadha

Hearing the rendition of Richa to music director Monty Sharma's music in Chamku, Dharam paaji got so emotional that the poet in him cam alive and he acturally contributed thoughts to the lyrics of the song penned by Sameer. Monty Sharma, the coveted winner of the RD Burman Filmfare Award for original music and the man who has over 23 films background score and 17 films as music director had excelled himself in this number. The number went thus, " Kithejaawan Kinoo dassa hayo rabba ki kaiyan...' a Punjabi-Hindi fusion haunting folk song that is to be picturised on Priyanka Chopra as she pines for her love Bobby Deol in the film. Says music director Mony Sharma, " I wanted the song to be today's song though it is a number of a woman pining for her beloved. Hence, I went in for a lounge and modern treatment, with a folk touch." Dharmendra was so keen about this number that he actually was there throughout in the recordings at the Yashraj and at Ashok Honda Studios. Elaborates Monty Sharma, " Dharamji was very taken in by the song. He simply loved the rendition and actually contributed to the thought behind the song as well. He gave ideas and suggestions and was there for the recording. Monty elaborates that in this number, he wanted to create an ampitheatre atmosphere. " The idea as that whoever hears it should find it very fresh and new. And more importantly original." Says Dharmendra,"after Laxmikant-Pyarelal time, I got a feel after long that there is a really really song being recorded." Adds Monty Sharma," After working with Richaji in Saawariya, I wanted to work with her. I needed the slightly Punjabi style in the rendition. I also wanted a voice that had pathos yet power. Richaji was the right person for this song." Incidentally, though the song was originally supposed to be in Punjabi, Monty Sharma mangaged to convince Dharam Paji to make it a Hindi-Punjabi fusion folk number with a lounge touch. " It finally worked well for the situation," he avers.

Cannes Film Festival Fever

The glamour and glitz of Tinseltown hit the French Riviera this week as the 61st Cannes Film Festival began.

The next 12 days will be full of A-listers, wannabes and executives schmoozing, posing and partying at the film industry's most famous and prestigious event. There will also be a good deal of serious film viewing and reviewing.

This year's festival is showcasing South American film and promises something for everyone, from dark independent European tales and quirky animation to good old-fashioned blockbusting Hollywood adventure.

Over 33,000 industry professionals will be in Cannes to see 22 movies fight it out for the coveted Palme d'Or for best film which is awarded on the final day, 25 May. Other awards in the motion picture competition include the Grand Prix, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actor.

The main competition opens with Brazilian entry Blindness, directed by Fernando Meirelles who also directed City of God. It stars Julianne Moore and Gael Garcia Bernal caught up in a global blindness epidemic.

More big names in the feature film competition include Angelina Jolie in Clint Eastwood's Changeling, Benicio del Toro in Steven Soderbergh's Che, Gwyneth Paltrow and Joaquin Phoenix in James Gray's Two Lovers and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche, New York.

Matteo Garrone, Paolo Sorrentino and Ari Folman are some of the less mainstream directors competing for the big awards.

There are also competition prizes for new talent (Un Certain Regard), film school entries (Cinefondation) and short films. In addition, the festival features special screenings and out of competition showings.

This year the return of the well-preserved Harrison Ford as archaeologist-adventurer Indiana Jones is grabbing the headlines in the latter category. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is directed, as ever, by Steven Spielberg. Jack Black, Woody Allen and Robert de Niro are all involved in Out of Competition films too.

Madonna, Diego Maradona and Mike Tyson are just a few of the celebrities expected to strut their stuff on the Croisette, Cannes' main thoroughfare, during the next two weeks.

Britain is represented at the festival by first-time director Steve McQueen who opens the Un Certain Regard competition with his portrayal of the last six weeks in the life of Bobby Sands. The IRA hunger striker died in 1981 after 66 days without food. The short film category features a film made by English artist Sam Taylor-Wood and executive-produced by the late Anthony Minghella.

The juries for each competition category include international film actors, directors, writers, technicians, critics and journalists depending on the award. This year's feature film jury is led by American actor-director Sean Penn and includes US actress Natalie Portman and Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron.

Last year Cristian Mungiu won the feature film Palme d'Or with 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.

The Cannes Film Festival may be a private, invitation-only affair but even we mere mortals can enjoy the unique atmosphere of the resort. EasyJet flies to Nice from London and most regional airports. UK travellers based in the North can fly from Manchester with Air France and KLM.

Downloading Free PSP Movies

Free PSP movies can be downloaded from various movie and game-downloading sites. The software which is required to transfer the movie is also easily available, but one has to buy it from an online store. This downloading software not only accepts any downloaded movie format, but also compresses the movie so it fits into a regular PSP memory stick. But, we will need a USB cable to make the connection and download a free movie in PSP format.

Downloading Free PSP movies does not require any special expertise. One just needs to go to a preferred downloading site and download the movie clips, in PSP format. Special software for transferring PSP movies is required which is also easily available. PSP movies have DVD quality picture and sound.

Downloading Free PSP movies is a lot easier when we use tools such as Imtoo PSP converter. If someone wants to use a PSP converter, then he will need a DVD drive in the computer, a PSP USB cable, and at least a 256MB memory card.

Transfer of films or movie clips from PCs to the PSP is easy and fast. This includes the following formats: AVI, MPEG, RM, WMV, MOV, MP4, MPEG4, and DIVX.

Before, the only way to buy music and movies was to go to the shops and buy cassettes and records. However, now one can buy a wide range of music, movies and games straight from the Internet and download them without having to leave one's home.

Some sites offer downloading of free movies, where the downloader needs to pay a small amount to join the site. However, there are also sites that let you download movies and games totally free of charge.

Though there is an abundance of free PSP movie downloading sites, the legality of these sites is quite questionable. These sites offer a varied range of downloads but after the download of a movie clip or a game, it may happen that it will not work properly, or might infect the computer with some virus.

If you search the online search engines, you can get a number of recommended sites that deal with legal downloads. Illegal sites hold no responsibility for any of their content or products. Before downloading anything from these free sites, you should verify the authenticity, expiry dates and legality of the contents.

There are also some sites that offer free membership. Technically, these are free sites because the membership is free, but you would require to pay a small fee to download free PSP movies from the site. The fee is much less that that of a library or other rental shop.

Downloading free PSP movies can be great fun, but you should do this only after a thorough scrutiny of these downloading sites. Sites that charge for the movies are the ones which boast of their legality and help desk. For any problem regarding payment or downloading, the customer support assistance is always there to help. If you download copyrighted PSP movies, the penalty is severe, as both fine and imprisonment are probable.
