Hearing the rendition of Richa to music director Monty Sharma's music in Chamku, Dharam paaji got so emotional that the poet in him cam alive and he acturally contributed thoughts to the lyrics of the song penned by Sameer. Monty Sharma, the coveted winner of the RD Burman Filmfare Award for original music and the man who has over 23 films background score and 17 films as music director had excelled himself in this number. The number went thus, " Kithejaawan Kinoo dassa hayo rabba ki kaiyan...' a Punjabi-Hindi fusion haunting folk song that is to be picturised on Priyanka Chopra as she pines for her love Bobby Deol in the film. Says music director Mony Sharma, " I wanted the song to be today's song though it is a number of a woman pining for her beloved. Hence, I went in for a lounge and modern treatment, with a folk touch." Dharmendra was so keen about this number that he actually was there throughout in the recordings at the Yashraj and at Ashok Honda Studios. Elaborates Monty Sharma, " Dharamji was very taken in by the song. He simply loved the rendition and actually contributed to the thought behind the song as well. He gave ideas and suggestions and was there for the recording. Monty elaborates that in this number, he wanted to create an ampitheatre atmosphere. " The idea as that whoever hears it should find it very fresh and new. And more importantly original." Says Dharmendra,"after Laxmikant-Pyarelal time, I got a feel after long that there is a really really song being recorded." Adds Monty Sharma," After working with Richaji in Saawariya, I wanted to work with her. I needed the slightly Punjabi style in the rendition. I also wanted a voice that had pathos yet power. Richaji was the right person for this song." Incidentally, though the song was originally supposed to be in Punjabi, Monty Sharma mangaged to convince Dharam Paji to make it a Hindi-Punjabi fusion folk number with a lounge touch. " It finally worked well for the situation," he avers.
